Ludhiana, January 15
This is the first election experience of Kamal Chatly, the BJP nominee for the Ludhiana-West constituency, and his family is making every effort to make his first election a success story. The entire Chatly clan, from Kamal’s parents to his wife and children, are campaigning for him.
The BJP announced its nominee three days ago. With nominations going on, Kamal feels time he got to interact with the people of the constituency is very less. So, he and his family are making most of the remaining time. They are meeting people and putting across their viewpoint.
Kamal’s son, Harsh Chatly, who is a businessman, is making every effort to ensure his father’s victory.
“Since the time left before the elections is very less, we are trying to make the best of it. In the morning, we hold a meeting among the family members to decide which area is to be visited by whom. After the meeting, we disperse and campaign separately,” he said.
The business community here is very disappointed with the current situation in the state. “I share with businessmen how my father has planned to uplift the community,” he said.
Kamal’s daughter, Malika Chatly, an advocate, is leaving no stone unturned in helping her father. “As there is less time, instead of campaigning together, we are going out in the field separately and urging people to vote in favour of my father. He has got a chance to serve his fellowmen and we are trying our every bit to ensure his success,” she says.
Not only children but also Kamal’s wife and parents are seeking votes for him in their own way. Saveena Chatly, wife of Kamal, and his father Chaman Lal Chatly and mother Geeta Chatly are also campaigning for him.
“Kamal always wanted to help society and those in need and now he has got a golden chance to fulfil his dream. We all are with him and burning midnight oil to ensure his success,” adds Saveena. Kamal Chatly said if he won the elections, his main aim would be to help the ailing industry of the state. “I will try to help the industry which is passing through a difficult phase and will also try to be a bridge between the government and the traders,” he said.
Gosain takes yet another about turn
and therefore there was no question of his coming back. “He is part and parcel of the party and would continue to get the respect and honour that is due to him. We shall also suitably utilise his services in the electioneering,” he said.
Even though Gosain made a comeback without losing much time, a large section of dedicated party workers, including those in the Ludhiana-Central constituency, was upset over a veteran party leader like Gosain behaving in this manner. An old timer summed up the situation saying – Gosain had lobbed a bomb towards the party which failed to explode and led to his retreat.
