DGP MA Ganpathy today said women police officers had proved their worth. They had solved many cases of heinous crimes in the past. The DGP earlier flagged off Cheetah force (two-wheeler-borne women cops) on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
“Women have proved their worth in every field. Women sportsperson have won many international medals. It is the duty of everyone to sensitise masses about women’s right. District police heads are strictly instructed to check crime against women,” he said.
Dehradun SSP Sweety Agarwal said 24 vehicles of Cheetah force were launched to respond swiftly in case of street crimes in the city.
“Of 48 policewomen, 10 are women Sub-Inspectors and 38 are women constables. Three two-wheeler-borne women police personnel each will be deployed under Kotwali, Vasant Vihar, Dalanwala and Nehru Colony police stations, while two women Cheetah force personnel each will be deployed at Cantt, Raipur, Patelnagar, Rajpur, Clement Town and Premnagar police stations. Two units will be deployed under Rishikesh police stations,” she said.
Members of the Cheetah force have been given six-day training on vehicle driving, self defence, first aid, weapon training, wireless sets and public training.
ADG (law and order) Ram Singh Meena, ADG (administration) Ashok Kumar, IG (law and order) Deepam Seth, IG (jail) PVK Prasad, IG (PAC) Amit Sinha, IG (operations) Sanjay Gunjyal and DIG Garhwal Pushpak Jyoti were present.
