Ludhiana, April 23
Claiming to ensure delivery of various citizen-centric services to people in an efficient, timely and hassle-free manner, the city police launched nine mobile applications in the city today.
The nine apps including ‘Untraced Report App’, ‘Verification Report App’, ‘No Objection Certificate App’, ‘Police Clearance Certificate App’, ‘Passport Verification Status App’, ‘Lost (articles /equipment/ documents) Registration App’, ‘Know your police App’, ‘Complaint Registration App’ and ‘Know My Complaint App’ have been developed by the “Saanjh” wing of the Punjab Police.
DCP Dhruman Nimble said these apps would ensure citizen-centric services to people on their mobile phones.
These apps can be downloaded easily from the Google play store on all android phones.
The DCP said: “As per the provision of the Right to Service Act, 2011, all untraced reports relating to general theft cases were to be provided to victims/complainants within 60 days of registration of the FIR and similarly, untraced reports relating to vehicle thefts were to be provided within 45 days of registration of the FIR. To reduce the delay and to ensure delivery of these untraced reports in an efficient manner, this application has been designed.”
Similarly “Verification App” has been developed to facilitate the public for reports which require police verifications in advance. He said various government departments require civil verifications before giving appointment letters to candidates for checking their backgrounds.
Another important application has been developed in the form of “No objection certificate App” in case any organisation requires NOCs for holding various functions fairs and exhibitions. After applying for this service at “Saanjh Kendras” one can download final NOCs through this app and at this stage, they need not visit a “Saanjh Kendra”.
Besides, people need Police Clearance Certificates for procuring visas and also for other immigration purposes. Presently, they have to procure it manually after visiting the “Saanjh Kendra”. But now after applying for this service at a “Saanjh Kendra” they can download it through this app. Residents can also check the status of their passport verification/ application on a regular basis through this app.
“Earlier, in case of lost articles, equipment or documents one had to visit the nearest ‘Saanjh Kendra’ to register their report. But with this new specially designed app, one can immediately report and get the same registered online. The applicant will get a digitally-signed receipt from the ‘Saanjh’ and he can use this receipt for various purposes such as getting new mobile connection and passport,” he said.
Besides, the “Know your police App” will help people immensely in situations such as accidents, crime situations and enable common people to ascertain details of police stations including its location, telephone numbers, map of the area and approximate distance or location of an individual from the police station.
