City to have first carcass incinerator centre

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is going to set up the city's first carcass incinerator centre for disposing dead animals.The agenda in this regard is coming up for discussion in the MC House meeting tomorrow. 

Mayor Arun Sood said the centre would be environment friendly and would be set up in Sector 25 (West), adjoining the garbage processing plant.  The cost for setting up of the plant will be Rs 6 crore. At present, dead animals were disposed of in the dumping ground or forest areas. It is the duty of the MC for the removal and disposal of dead animals. As per the agenda, there will be two plants at the centre. One will be for big animals. The other one will be for small animals. The animals will be cremated with commercial LPGs.
