CM nod to ‘Swadhar Greh’ scheme

Chief Minister Manohar Lal khattar has approved the ‘Swadhar Greh’ scheme for women victims of difficult circumstances.
Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain said here today that the scheme envisaged that shelter, food, clothing and health as well as economic and social security were assured for such women.
Swadhar Greh would be set up in every district with a capacity to accommodate 30 women and cater to their primary need of shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment.
More than one Swadhar Greh could be established in big cities and districts having more than 40 lakh population. The capacity of Swadhar Greh could be expanded up to 50 or 100, she added.
The minister said the scheme could be availed by women above 18 years of age. The scheme envisaged to cover deserted women, women survivors of natural disasters who have been rendered homeless, women prisoners released from jail, victims of domestic violence, family tension or discord, who were made to leave their homes without any means of subsistence and trafficked women or girls rescued from brothels or other places and women affected by HIV/AIDS. —TNS
