CM: Translate ancient Sanskrit manuscripts

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today stressed the need for early completion of Sanskrit College at Phagli for which a provision of Rs 8 crore has already been made and also directed translation of ancient Sanskrit manuscripts to Hindi. He presided over the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Sanskrit Academy here today. The members present in the meeting suggested that temple pujaris should be properly trained so that they are able to perform the puja and other religious ceremonies and rituals as per ancient Vedic system.
Suggestions were given to organize camps for temple priests under Skill Development Allowance Scheme so that they could be properly trained by the academy to enable them to polish their pronunciation skills while performing ‘Mantras’ and ‘Shalokas’.
Virbhadra Singh also stressed the need for speeding up the forest clearance process for paving the way for construction of Sanskrit Academy at Marhawag near 16 miles in Shimla rural constituency. He said that the demand pertaining to opening of Sanskrit college would be considered provided adequate land was available. It was also decided to provide an honorarium Rs 700 to Sanskrit litterateurs for presenting research papers.
The Chief Minister also released an annual magazine published by the academy. He stressed for promotion of Sanskrit language and initiate measures to popularize it for emancipating interest in the language.
Earlier, Secretary Himachal Sanskrit Academy Dr. Mast Ram Sharma honoured the briefed about the activities of the academy.
