To spread awareness on the historic importance of Jind district, the administration on Thursday decided to prepare a coffee table book. Jind Additional Deputy Commissioner Gauri Prashar Joshi has formed a special committee for the purpose and directed the members to arrange the required material at the earliest.

The ADC said the main reason behind preparing a coffee table book on Jind’s rich historic-religious and an archaeological treasure was to make people aware about the historic importance of the district.

“Not many people know about the historic importance of Jind despite the fact that the district has so many historic places. This is happening because the historic sites are in a state of neglect. We have prepared a special plan for the early renovation of these sites. With the release of this book, we hope to attract tourists to Jind,” said the ADC.

Jind district has many historic places such as Pandu Pindara, Rani Talab, Bhuteshvar temple, Jayanti devi temple, Pushkara Tirath, Sri Tirath, Koti Tirtha, Ramrai village, and Jind and Dhamtan sahib Gurdwaras, among others. Due to lack of proper care by the authorities and awareness among residents, many of these sites are a shambles.

The ADC will act as the chairman of the new committee and Jind DIPRO Sube Singh will be the member sectary.
