The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), has appointed Col RD Singh (retd) as convener of Ambala chapter. He takes over from Brig GS Lamba, who served for nearly 10 years in this capacity. Singh had successfully commanded 48 Armoured Regiment and had also been an instructor at the prestigious DSSC Wellington (Staff College) from 1998 to 2001.

He hails from Pilimandori village (Fatehabad), and is also a star blood donor (102 times).

Singh has been taking active interest in the activities of INTACH right from his young days in 1991 at Jodhpur.

He was active at Tenga (Arunachal) and at Jammu. While posted at Leh in 2008 -09, he kept working for the preservation of old monuments and rich Ladakhi culture.

In Ambala as co-convener, the officer has been instrumental in starting 25 heritage clubs in different schools. —TNS
