The Dogri Sanstha released the first poetic collection “Koole-Bhaav” of upcoming poet Brahm Dutt Magotra at a function in the KL Saigal Hall here today.
Published by Highbrow Publishers, the book includes 101 Dogri ghazals. In his welcome address, Chhatrapal, president of the Dogri Sanstha, congratulated the young poet.
He said the sanstha had been promoting new writers and poets by providing them a platform. “Every new book is an addition to the culture as it reflects the human sentiments and enriches the positive values,” Chhatrapal said.
A brief critical review of the book was also presented by a young critic, Ritu Kumar, who discussed the poetic merits, content and style of ghazals of the book.
In his address, Dr Lalit Magotra, noted writer, intellectual and convener of the Sahitya Akademi’s Advisory Board for Dogri said ghazal was a favourite genre of Dogri poets and it was a matter of great contentment that young poets were making valuable contribution to this literary tradition.
Additional secretary of the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Arvinder Aman and Prof Veena Gupta, former Head of the PG Department of Dogri, University of Jammu, congratulated the poet and hoped that his poetic collection was liked by the readers.
Brahm Dutt recited some of his poems and ghazals on the occasion. The programme was conducted by Dr Rattan Basotra and the vote of thanks was presented by Gianeshwar, vice- president of the Dogri Sanstha.
