Chandigarh, October 7
A Panchkula resident has filed a DDR with the UT police alleging he had been sold a faulty Maruti Alto car by Autopace agency based in Industrial Area, Phase 1.
Sunil Mallick said he had purchased a new car at the cost of Rs 3.21 lakh for his wife from the agency in August. But to his shock, the very next morning of buying the car, his family noticed that its bumper was painted from outside.
“I reported the matter to the agency and they said they will fix it. But, a few days later when I was driving the car, I found that the engine was making sound. I took the car to the service centre in Panchkula and mechanics there told me it has a major manufacturing fault. I told them to replace the car with a new one. But, without my knowledge, they sent the car to the Chandigarh service centre for repair. However, they failed to repair it till today,” he alleged.
He lodged the plaint with the police. “I am surprised how easily they are trying to make customers fool by selling them faulty cars. I do not know how many others fell prey to them,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, Arvind, service manager of the centre, said, “We had told the customer that we will repair the car as it is under warranty for two years, but he is adamant on replacing it.”
