The order for a prayer break for members of a community is proving to be a headache for the government. The order has not been issued so far.
After a series of flip flops, sources claim that now it has been decided to allow 90 minutes (12 noon to 1:30 pm) break to government employees belonging to the community on Fridays during Ramzan.
After the Cabinet decision to grant Friday break for government employees drew flak, the government decided to review it.
Sources in the administration say several pronouncements made by the political leaders, who are also with the government, is proving to be a headache. An announcement was also made that members of other communities too could take a break for performing special pujas after informing the head of the department. But the officials say its implementaion is still being looked into.
“Members of another community have several festival, it is difficult to implement such things. These holidays will lead to 12 holidays in a month. This is not workable,” said an official. However, the final order is still awaited.
