Chandigarh, November 6
The Chandigarh Administration should construct the Governor’s Palace, a dream project of Le Corbusier by modifying its name and design to give a befitting tribute to the eminent architect.
This was stated by Mauricio Luzuriaga, an architect from Venezuela. He is in the city to attend the “Concrete Actions-2015 Second International Conference, Urban Landscape: Historic and Cultural Fourth Skin of A Community”, organised by the Chandigarh College of Architecture.
He said it was surprising that the work of Le Corbusier has not been given the heritage status by UNESCO. He added that his work was an example of a modern architecture.
Mauricia expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of the Corbuiser’s work by the Chandigarh Administration.
During the seminar, other speakers talked about how the City Centre, Sector 34, could be converted into a commercial and cultural centre by the Chandigarh Administration.
