The Forest Department staff of the Bahu range and Anti-Encroachment Wing demolished a construction at Batala Mohalla, Sunjwan, on the outskirts of the city here today.

Shahida Begum, wife of Ghulam Mohammad Shah, resident of Kishtwar, had started construction over about 10 marla of forest land.

The demolition was carried out under the supervision of Dr VS Senthil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Jammu, and BM Sharma, Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Jammu.

The DFO mentioned that the encroacher had purchased the land from local people of that area and started raising the construction. The Forest Offence Report (FOR) for violation of Section 6 of J&K Forest Act has also been registered. He added that the encroachers had taken the advantage of the Jammu bandh, but their attempt was foiled.
