The city police are going the ‘selfie’ way, literally. In order to ensure the presence of policemen deployed on the spot, Commissioner of Police Paramraj Singh Umranangal and Deputy Commissioner of Police Narinder Bhargav are making full use of messaging application WhatsApp.

The top cop has created a group consisting of all Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police (ADCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and station house officers (SHOs) to share pictures of nakas and search operations being carried out in various parts of the city.

Besides, the cops have been told to share the picture of any crime incident, clash or protest.

Police officials have been told to take their selfie at the place where they are deployed and share it in the WhatsApp group.

“The mere presence of a policeman is enough to instill confidence among residents and fear among the anti-social elements. Besides, carrying out the surprise checking we are making effective use of technology for ensuring the presence of police personnel,” said DCP Narinder Bhargav.

DCP Narinder Bhargav said the efficient police officials would be suitably rewarded with a commendation certificate.

Reportedly, the group has been created for keeping a tab on movement of policemen.
