Thee Haryana Staff Selection Commission on Monday declared the result of the written examination held on April 17 for 1,000 posts of constable (female), 140 posts of constable (female ex-servicemen) and 860 posts of constable (male ex-servicemen). The result is available on the website of the commission at www.hssc.gov.in, he added. TNS

Voters Party to pay electors for casting vote

The Voters Party promises Rs 5,000 remuneration for those using their right to franchise after coming to power. Sahi Ram Rawat, state convener of the party, said the party had selected Haryana and Delhi as its political laboratory and had begun preparation for the 2019 elections. Promising Rs 4,000 as social security pension as well as unemployment allowance in the state, Rawat said his party would have a written agreement with voters that its members would lose their seats if they failed to fulfil their promises. Truck mows down 3 youths

Three youths of Baiyanpur village were killed and three others were injured when they were knocked down by a truck on the Sonepat-Kharkhoda road near the village this morning. The victims were on their morning walk at the time of the accident. While Amit (19) and Ankit (19) died on the spot, Mohit (18) succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital. Three others were admitted to local civil hospitals and they were reported to be out of danger. OC

Lab technicians begin two-day strike 

Laboratory technicians, including those working in the malaria department, went on a two-day strike on Monday. They staged a dharna and demanded their salaries and promotion pattern should be on a par with laboratory technicians of the Centre. A meeting in Chandigarh between the authorities and technicians remained inconclusive. Raj Singh Mann, state convener of an association of technicians, said the government should sort discrepancies in salaries soon. He, accompanied by district president Manju Sharma, demanded implementation of the report of G Madhavan on pay anomalies. Missing youth found dead

Body of Manish (22) was recovered from a water tank in Ludhawas village here today. The deceased, a resident of Khadagwas village of the district, was missing since last three days. The body was spotted by an employee at the water works. The police is yet to ascertain the exact cause of his death. TNS

Dadlani asked to join probe 

District and Sessions Judge Deepak Gupta has directed singer Vishal Dadlani to join investigation at the Sadar police station on September 21. Dadlani had filed an application for anticipatory bail in the court. The case has been adjourned for hearing on September 23. A case was registered against Dadlani for hurting religious sentiments of Jain community by allegedly tweeting against Digambar saint Tarun Sagar Maharaj. OC

Ambala zone wins trophy

The Ambala zone won the overall trophy in college catagory at the state-level annual function of ‘Students Legal Literacy Mission Haryana’ held in Kurukshetra on Sunday. Dr Tejpal Kaur, principal, Government College, Ambala Cantonment, received the trophy. The college is the nodal centre of Ambala zone. Supreme Court Judge Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice SJ Vazifdar, CM Manohar Lal Khattar were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. Youth’s body found

The body of 22-year-old Manish of Khadagwas village was recovered from a water works in Ludhawas village in the district on Monday. Manish, an unemployed, went missing three days ago. An employee of the water works spotted the body in the morning and informed the police. “Exact cause of the death will be ascertained after the post-mortem examination,” said the police. TNS

Ambala 

Two brothers drown 

Two brothers from Ambala drowned in the Kudle beach in Gokarna (Karnataka) on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Abhinav Khanduja (25) and his brother Gokul Khanduja (23). They were working with an IT company in Bangalore and had gone to the beach with their three friends. While Gokul disappeared, Abhinav died while being taken to hospital. Gokul’s body was recovered later. TNS

Wanted criminal held 

The police have arrested a criminal wanted for 25 cases of murder, attempt to murder and dacoity. The criminal, Pala Singh alias Kirpal Singh (60), is a native of Chosana in UP. He has been booked under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA). The police said he was wanted for several crimes since 1984. Five cases were registered against him in Karnal district alone. TNS

HC notice on folk singer’s bail plea

The High Court on Monday refused to stay the arrest of Haryanavi folk singer Sapna Chaudhary in a case registered against her under the SC&ST Act. The court issued notice to Haryana on Sapna’s bail plea. She has approached the HC after the dismissal of her bail plea by Gurgaon district court on September 9. She was accused of insulting a particular caste through a song at a stage show. In July, Sapna was booked by the Gurgaon police. Sapna argued the song for which she was booked had been sung by several others. TNS
