Realising the fact that burn and trauma injuries increase during Diwali, the Doon Group of Hospitals have pulled up their socks to handle medical emergencies.
The Doon Police, fire brigade, and Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited officials have also geared up to address grievances of residents timely during the festivities.
The Doon Hospital administration claimed that specialist doctors had been instructed to remain on call on Diwali night. Besides, beds have been kept reserved in trauma ward of the hospital. Additionally, para-medical staff, including x-ray, regional diagnostic centre and operation theatre technicians, have been instructed to remain on call.
Dr RS Aswal, principal medical superintendent, Doon Hospital, said ortho-surgeon, ENT surgeon, anesthetic, child specialist, surgeon, eye surgeon, and dermatologist had been asked to remain on alert.
The hospital has full stock of life saving drugs. Medical and para-medical staff has been instructed to cater to medical emergencies swiftly in order to save lives.
Meanwhile, UPCL has made elaborate plans to supply uninterrupted electricity to consumers. The department had procured additional electricity to meet with the demand of electricity in the state. Madhusudan, an official spokesperson for UPCL, said UPCL managing director SS Yadav had instructed technical staff to remain on alert for another two days.
He said junior and additional engineers were instructed to remain in their respective sub-stations to rectify technical errors in case of power failure. Mobile vans would be put on stand-by to repair errors to ensure uninterrupted electricity to consumers.
Meanwhile, the city police have deployed additional personnel at inter-crossings to streamline traffic in the city. Policemen in plain clothes have been deployed in busy markets and sensitive areas to keep an eye on anti-social elements.
SSP Sadanand Datte said SHOs and police posts in charges were instructed to remain vigilant during Diwali. Night patrolling in different colonies had been already been increased to check house, and shop burglary cases in the city.
SSP Datte warned that drunken driving would not be tolerated at any cost during the festive season. The city and traffic police personnel were instructed to heavily challan traffic offenders.
Two wheelers and four wheelers parked at no-parking zones would be towed away to ensure smooth vehicular movement of traffic in the city during Diwali, the SSP added.
