Copter fare to Vaishno Devi shrine reduced

In a good news, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has slashed the helicopter fare on the Katra-Sanjichhat-Katra axis from April 1.
An official spokesperson said the decision waspart of the board’s continuing endeavours to provide improved services to the pilgrims.
Quoting Ajeet Kumar Sahu, chief executive officer of the board, the spokesperson said the helicopter fare for Katra-Sanjichhat and the return journey will be less than it was in the past three years.
Briefing Governor NN Vohra, chairman of the shrine board, the CEO stated that after pursuing an entirely transparent bidding process, the one-way passenger fare for heli-travel between Katra and Sanjichhat will be Rs 1,077 (inclusive of taxes) as against the existing fare of Rs 1,170 per passenger. The new rates will be applicable with effect from April 1.
The CEO said the contract had been awarded to the two successful bidders ie Global Vectra Helicorp Ltd and Himalayan Heli Services Pvt Ltd for the operation of heli-services. — TNS
