Core Banking System (CBS) is now available at three more post offices of the city. Account holders can make the transactions and withdrawal of money for the small saving accounts from these post offices as well.
The new post offices branches made CBS-enabled are at Rajguru Nagar, Model Town and Central Post Office. With these, the count of CBS-enabled branches in the district has reached 41, stated Suresh Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent, Post Offices, (City Division).
CBS connects the data of small saving schemes services in post offices to the main server at Mysore, which enables transactions of amounts for small saving scheme accounts at all the CBS-enabled branches.
Residents of the areas said CBS at the post offices branches is a good decision. “I faced problem during withdrawal of money from other post offices, as Rajguru Nagar branch was not yet CBS-enabled. Making it CBS-enabled is going to make transactions of small saving scheme accounts at the post office possible at other CBS branches,” said Navtej Singh, a resident of Rajguru Nagar. “I hope that the postal department will also issue ATM cards to account holders soon,” he added.
