Pauri Garhwal MP Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri addressed an election gathering in support of BJP candidate and sitting legislator from the Ranipur-BHEL Assembly segment today.

Khanduri said corruption is a major issue in the elections as Cabinet ministers of the present Congress government and legislators had misused public money and power.

He said even during the 2012 Assembly elections corruption was a major issue but the BJP fell short of majority by one seat and couldn’t form the government. But this time voters should bring the BJP to power with full majority for corruption-free governance.

“No corruption case or scam has been associated with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre while the previous UPA government faced several corruption cases and scams. Only the BJP can provide corruption-free governance in the hill state but for that voters need to fully support the party candidates,” said Khanduri.

He accused Chief Minister Harish Rawat of putting himself before the Congress and said his autocratic and tyrant style of functioning made 10 Congress MLAs revolt against him and join the BJP.

“The organisational and ideology based set up of the BJP is quite different from the family-oriented politics of the Congress, which is why almost one third of the Congress legislators are now in the BJP. If Congress legislators can feel suffocation, one can understand the condition of its grass-root workers and common people, who are now realising the mistake of giving the party a chance last time,” said Khanduri.

He sought votes for party candidate Aadesh Chauhan from youths who were honest, visionary and dedicated and could shape the fate of Uttarakhand.
