CUJ holds ‘Mahila Kavi Sammelan’

Jammu, March 8

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a multi-lingual “Mahila Kavi Sammelan” was organised at the Temporary Academic Block (TAB) of the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), Sainik Colony, here today.

The event was organised by the CUJ in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), wherein various eminent poetesses of the region participated. They highlighted issues like gender parity, women education and women empowerment.

Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan, Jammu, was the guest of honour, while Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, CUJ, was the chief guest.

In her address, Prof Rita Jitendra, former JKAACL secretary, underscored the importance of women empowerment in the society. She said the initiatives taken by the pioneering agencies were worth appreciable.

Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan, Jammu, appreciated the JKAACL and CUJ for organising the event. Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, CUJ also spoke on the occasion.

Those who recited poetry on the occasion were Sunita Bhadwal, Vijaya Thakur, Saroj Bala, Promila Manhas, Usha Kiran Kiran (Dogri), Surinder Neer, Isha Badgotra (Punjabi), Dr Aruna Sharma, Anita Mehta, Yogita Yadav, Shivani Anand, Neeru Sharma (Hindi), Fozia Mughal (Urdu), Kahlida Parveen (Gojri) and Santosh Shah Nadaan (Kashmiri).
