An impressive cultural function marked ‘Teej’ festival at the Rayat Bahra University College of Nursing, near here, today.
Girl students of BSc Nursing were well dressed and performed gidhha to welcome ‘Savan’, the month associated with the festival. Girl students participated in various activities such as rangoli making, mehndi, hair braiding among others. They also danced to the tunes of traditional Punjabi folk and pop songs.
The girls, wearing traditional and colourful dresses also participated in a “Miss Teej” competition organised on the occasion. The students also had a gala time while dancing to the tunes of Hindi and Punjabi numbers.
Dr SK Bansal, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, Usha Sharma, Registrar, and Deans of different schools of Rayat Bahra University, Mohali, were present.
Ravneet Kaur, a student of BSc (Nursing) (second-year), was declared as ‘Miss Teej’, while Lovepreet was adjudged the first runners-up. In rangoli competition, Manju was declared the first. In mehandi, Jaismeen bagged the first position and Neha got the second position. Amanjot Kaur and Harpreet Kaur were adjudged first and second, respectively, in hair-braiding competition.
