Dal Bahadur Thapa remembered

Members of the Uttarakhand Rajya Nepali Bhasha Samiti observed Shaheed Divas to pay homage to Capt Dal Bahadur Thapa at a programme held here on Tuesday. They remembered the supreme sacrifice done by him.
The Samiti members said Thapa was a Captain in the Indian National Army and had played a pivotal during India’s freedom movement. Thapa, while fighting with Azad Hind forces, led by Netaji Subhash Chander Bose, was captured by British forces in Burma during the World War II and sentenced to death and hanged in 1945.
Samiti members recalled his efforts and urged the gathering to follow in his footprints. They said Capt Thapa proved his bravery in many wars. Prem Kumar, PS Chettri, NP Gurung and Bhupinder Adhikari also attended the function.
