Chandigarh, May 17

Prateeksha Kashi, Guru Raju and Neha Kiran, led by guru Vyjayanthi and attired in dazzling costumes, brought alive the magnificence and traditional splendour of kuchipudi dance in five sleek presentations amidst applause for their swaying body movement and dexterous dancing techniques. Since the themes of all classical dance compositions are replete with descriptive references of Indian mythological gods, the spiritual fervour pervaded the hall as they opened up with an invocatory dance in laudation of Lord Ganesha.

Through serene spells of nicely choreographed dance the artists delineated the emergence of the universe through five elements of akasha, vaayu, agni, jala and prithvi through renditions of shalokas.

Gifted danseuse Prateeksha Kashi, disciple daughter of Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi shined through portraying Lord Krishna in ‘Pahi pahi jaganmohana Krishna’ and the concluding ‘Kubje’.

A salutation to Lord Shiva in ‘Sapta Tandav’ was impressive.

Earlier, Akademi chairperson Kamal Arora welcomed chief guest Anurag Aggarwal, Guru Suchitra Mitra (guest of honour), who honoured the artistes.

Classical vocalist Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar will perform in the CSNA concert to be held at Tagore Theatre on May 21.
