Death anniversary of folk singer to be observed every year

Death anniversary of Late Kuldeep Singh Manak, popularly known as King of Kali, will be celebrated by the state government every year and the government will extend financial help to the kin of the folk singer.
The announcement was made by Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Charanjit Singh Atwal, during the concluding session of the two-day programme held at Manak Da Tilla at Jalaldiwal village near here today.
Recollecting his experiences with Manak, Dr Atwal, said Manak and his associates had contributed a lot towards rejuvenation of folk culture in the border state.
Reiterating the government's commitment towards revival of culture and heritage of Punjab, Dr Atwal said families of folk singers and artistes who had made genuine efforts to spread awareness about social evils would also be felicitated and helped by the state government.
