Resentment prevails among 72 villages of Narwana Assembly constituency against the decision of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to shift its executive engineer (EE) office to Jind from Narwana.

A delegation from the area led by local INLD MLA Pirthi Singh Nambardar met HVPNL MD at Chandigarh a few days back against this move. They also submitted their request to withdraw their decision to shift the office to Jind from Narwana, where it has been operating since the past 35 years.

“We met the HVPNL MD in Chandigarh on May 12 and made him aware about the resentment of all 72 villages of the constituency. The office has been operating here from the past 35 years, but now under political pressure from ruling party leaders, it will be shifted to Jind,” said INLD MLA Pirthi Singh Nambardar.

The HVPNL is responsible for construction and maintenance of transmission lines, sub-stations of voltage level 66KV and above and communication facilities and other works related to the transmission of electricity.

Eighteen sub stations from Jind district are under the supervision of Narwana EE office. Though the EE of Jind Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited Ayush Saini confirmed that his department had taken the decision to shift his office to Jind, but he refused to share the details behind the sudden decision to shift this office to Jind.

“We have decided to shift our EE Narwana office to Jind so that our officers can look after the entire district. The decision has been taken and the office will be shifted soon,” said Subhash Sharma, Superintendent Engineer of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited Hisar.

But, the Narwana MLA said that they would start a protest if the office was shifted to Jind from Narwana and would not allow it at any cost.
