As per experts, the accident was an outcome of lack of safety measures and engineering fault in the highway which has turned into a death trap for commuters. Not a single day passes without a road mishap here. How dangerous commuting on this highway is, can be gauged from the fact that over 70 per cent of the total road mishaps reported in Rewari occur on this highway.

Potholes at various places, lack of sign boards, no safety arrangements at crossings and inadequate lights on the highway is proving fatal for travellers.

Moreover, inaction of the district authorities to check the practice of overloaded commercial vehicles and drunken driving also poses a serious threat to sensible road users here.

Banipur Chowk, Kasola Chowk, Aasalwaas and Dhaaruhera bus stand crossing are the major points where accidents have occurred regularly over the past few months.

Rewari DC Yash Garg said several accident-prone points have been identified on the highway and a proposal to develop service roads here has also been sent to the NHAI so that accidents can be prevented.
