Dhruv Dahiya, IPS officer of the 2012 batch, will take command of the traffic in the industrial city.

Posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) till now, he will again join as ADCP (Traffic). He swaps place with Sandeep Garg, also an IPS officer.

Known as an upright and no-nonsense officer, Dahiya was caught in the eye of the storm during his earlier tenure as ACP (North) when he had challaned the vehicle of a senior judicial officer for wrong parking and causing obstruction in the traffic in December 2014. Amidst voices of protest from various groups, he was shifted out of the city after this incident.

He joined back as ADCP (Traffic) in the city in January this year and was later posted as ADCP (Headquarters).

Bringing some semblance of order to the chaotic traffic conditions in the city would be no mean task for Dahiya, mainly because a majority of the road users in the city take sadistic pleasure in breaking traffic rules, feel many city residents. — OC
