Ludhiana: Atam Devki Niketan conducted an online computer quiz during the digital week organised by the National E-Governance Division, Ministry of IT and Communications, government of India. The online computer quiz was conducted in two groups from Class 6 to 12 which aims at empowering all students with information and sensible application of the principles of cyber safety, cyber security and cyber ethics. As many as 145 students participated in the quiz and got their participation certificates online. Principal Mridhu Ablash said the digital wellness online challenge was a great initiative by the authorities that aspires to make children and youth aware of how to maintain digital wellness by taking informed decisions and become safe, respectful and responsible users of digital technology.

Plantation drive

Students of Ryan Dugri took part in a plantation drive. Senior students went ahead with their plantation drive which was on from July 15. It was organised by Sanjh Kendra, Dugri. Headmistress Ritu Syal encouraged the zeal and enthusiasm of students.

Story-telling competition

A story-telling competition for Class III students was organised at GGN Public School on Wednesday. The students narrated the stories with a lot of confidence and composure. Inspiring stories like Arjun passed the shooting test, Robert Bruce and the spider, the great elephant, etc gave message to never give up in life and to remain focussed. Sachleen Kaur of Class III-A stood Ist, Jashanpreet Kaur of Class III-B stood IInd, Samaira of Class III-A stood IIIrd and Robin Singh of III-A bagged the consolation prize.

Cycle rally

Students of Ryan International School, Dugri, participated in a cycle rally which was flagged off by Ritu Syal, the headmistress of the school, on the occasion of Environment Month. The aim of the rally was to spread the message of 'clean and green city' and 'environment conservation' among the society and to promote cycling in the city. Many plantation drives were conducted in this month for a clean and green Ludhiana. The headmistress of the school said, "Students are going to act as our messengers to sensitise the residents about Clean India and Clean Ludhiana mission." 

Vanamahotsava celebrated

An environment friendly drive was organized by students of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar. The drive centralised the idea of planting and protecting maximum trees as the gradual thinning away of forest life is adversely affecting the life. The students celebrated Vanamahotsava on Wednesday. The students of the middle wing participated in a quiz on 'Go Green'. Students of higher wing planted more than 100 saplings. Working on the authentic powers, students of primary wing acclaimed their artistic vision by participating in a poster-making competition on nature. "Environmental awareness should be deeply instilled in habits, actions and thoughts to restore the original glory of flora and fauna. All measures need to be supplemented with educating the people to ensure better and congenial environment," said principal Neelam Mittar.

Guest lecture on FMM

A guest lecture was organised for the students of classes XI and XII on Financial Market Management (FMM) at BCM Senior Secondary School on Wednesday. Rajesh Kumar Soni, vice-president, Retail Sales of IDFC Mutual Fund, was the resource person. Rajesh began with an ice-breaking session on financial planning and the benefits of knowing the importance of mutual fund. He inspired the students to inculcate the habit of investment at an early age. Rajesh deliberated upon the changing trends in Financial Market and the need to make modification to different investment instruments. He stressed on the need to conceptualise strategies to know Indian economic behaviour and future aspects of the Indian Industry. Valuable information was imparted on various career avenues that are available tostudents in the financial sector. He involved the students through fun games and activities to sharpen their thinking skills. Queries of the students were taken up satisfactorily.

Go Green Day observed

Go Green Day was observed at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road. Students participated in a plantation drive and planted 60 saplings to save natural environment and human life on earth. The students from pre-nursery to Class II came attired in green and brown to spread awareness on the need to love and protect Mother Nature and environment for better ecological balance. Various activities like germination of seeds for the students of pre-nursery section, plant sapling and drawing competitions on 'Go green' for the primary and middle section were also organised. 

Open health check-up camp on July 25

Oliver House Pre-school and Day Care will organise a free health check-up camp for children in collaboration with Shiksha Uday and Rana Hospital on July 25. The camp is open to all and the timings for the health camp are 9 am to 1 pm. The camp will be conducted at Rana Hospital. As per Dr Rana, on the basis of diagnosis of the child, parents would be advised for improving their health graph based upon BMI. Apart from that, eye and ear check-up would also be done by experienced doctors. 

Orientation programme

Jagraon: An orientation programme for students of classes IX to XII was conducted at Blossoms Convent School in Jagraon. The prime aim of the programme was to discuss how to inculcate good habits and interest towards studies among students. In these programmes, Amarjit Kaur Naaz, principal of Blossoms Convent School, advised parents to spend some time with their children and try to make them strong by solving their problems with tact. Besides this, the principal asked parents that they should take care of their children's studies, daily routine and encourage them to utilise their free time properl . — TNS
