Pithoragarh, August 3
Eight SC families of Gerar village in Kanalichina block of Pithoragarh district, living in tent houses after their abodes were damaged in the 2013 disaster, have knocked on the administration’s door. They are seeking relief and finances to construct pucca houses on the lines of what had been provided to victims of Kedarnath and Drama valley by the government.
The families, which claimed to have been completely neglected by the ad- ministration in giving relief, have written to the district administration that being small in number, their voices had gone unheard till date.
“After voicing our concerns at various forums, we got tents from some agencies in July last year, which have now worn out,” said Chandra Ram, one of the sufferers of government’s apathy of Gerar village.
The tent dwellers claimed that the eight families of Chandra Ram, Diwani Ram, Mani Ram, Chandra Ram, Shankar Ram, Kishan Ram Prem Ram and Prakash Ram, residing in tent houses since after the 2013 disaster, have prayed to the administration several times in last two years but in vain. — OC
