Members of the family of the woman who died under mysterious circumstances on March 25 at her in laws house in Preet Vihar, took out a candle light march here today. The purpose of holding the march was to make the people aware about harassment of women for dowry.

Following death of Harsimran Kaur, a case of dowry death was registered under Section 304B of the IPC against husband of the deceased Jasveer Singh, mother-in-law Charanjit Kaur, brother-in-law Harsharn and sister-in-law Amandeep Kaur. Jasveer and Harsharn have already been arrested by the police.

The candle light march started from Navi Sabzi Mandi and culminated at Salem Tabri. Men, women and children participated in the march.

Victim’s brother Ramandeep Singh said his sister lost her life due to dowry. She left behind her two-year-old son Jasnoor Singh, he added.

”We are holding this march to spread awareness about the harassment for dowry so that no other woman loses her life in future. I lost my dear sister and now I want that her sacrifice should not go waste,” he said.

Notably Harsimran was found dead under mysterious circumstances on March 25. Her in-laws had told the police that she had committed suicide by hanging from the door’s grill.

The victim’s parents had levelled murder allegation on her husband and in laws.
