Dr Shashi Kumar, Director, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, has taken over as Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, after repatriation of Dr Ashwani Kumar to his parent cadre of Uttar Pradesh on June 25.
Dr Shashi Kumar, an IFS officer, held various important positions, including Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Arunachal Pradesh, PCCF (Wild Life) and Secretary (Science & Technology), Andaman and Nicobar, Managing Director, Goa Forest Development Corporation, Deputy Director General, FSI, and others.
After taking over, Dr Kumar had a detailed discussion with Dr Savita, Director, FRI, and officials of the ICFRE to get the brief of various ongoing and completed R&D programme of the ICFRE being carried out through its nine institutes and five centres spread over across India.
He met the Forest Scientists’ Association and assured it cooperation in all pending issues related to the HRD, pension and medical. He desired to work in close coordination to further enhance R&D outcome. Dr Kumar also met the Technical Staff Association and assured it to implement technical services in the ICFRE.
