Jalandhar, January 12
After Jagdish Bhola, Akali leader Manjinder Singh alias Bittu Aulakh, an accused in the Rs 6,000 crore drug racket in the state, has also sought a CBI probe into the case. Talking to the media today while being taken to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for interrogation, he claimed he was innocent.
The Enforcement Directorate had moved an application in the Patiala court on December 23 for the interrogation of a Delhi-based businessman, Varinder Raja, Sukhjeet Sukha and Bittu Aulakh. On January 8, the Patiala court allowed it to take custody of Raja and Sukha for four days which ended today.
Bittu was brought to Jalandhar city at 4 pm by a team of ED officials headed by Assistant Director Niranjan Singh.
Bittu alighted from the security vehicle smiling. “Let lensmen take my photographs,” he said. When quizzed on Akali Dal minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia, he was whisked away by the security staff.
Jagdish Bhola, a former DSP with the Punjab Police, had also demanded CBI probe when produced in a Mohali court in August last year.
