Ludhiana, June 29
The orders for the transfer of the District Transport Officer, Ludhiana, Anil Garg, have been cancelled. The officer, who was earlier ordered to join Union Territory of Chandigarh on deputation, will stay back as the DTO, Ludhiana.
On June 18, the transfer orders were issued to Garg. There was resentment among city residents, NGO and administrative officials over the transfer of the DTO. Keeping in view his good work here, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal had requested the Secretary, Transport Department, Anurag Aggarwal, and the Secretary, Personnel, to cancel his transfer orders.
Garg had initiated many services and carried out campaigns during his tenure of two years and two months. His good work included a tab test (computerised test) for learner’s licence, delivery of licence by post, campaign agasint school buses violating the norms of the High Court, special campaign launched in collaboration with NGOs and the district traffic police to regulate traffic, renovation of the District Transport Office and the ongoing construction for automated tracks required for computerised driving test.
Today, Deputy Secretary, Personnel, Mohinder Singh Prashar issued orders for cancellation of Garg’s transfer. The Deputy Secretary, Personnel, has written to the Advisor to Administrator, Department of Personnel, Chandigarh Administration, that owing to administrative requirements, the state government had directed to retain Anil Kumar Garg, PCS, in the state government only and accordingly his name stands withdrawn from the list of officers sent earlier for deputation in the Chandigarh administration.
Commenting on this development, the District Transport Officer (DTO), Anil Garg, said: “I am thankful to all. With this my responsibility gets doubled. I will try to
come up to the expectations of all.”
