Following its success in four districts - Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonepat and Panchkula, the state government now plans to make e-stamping mandatory throughout the state.
“In these four districts, all offices or agencies - treasury office or sub-treasury and authorised State Bank of India branches – were asked to stop selling non-judicial stamp paper from May 1. Now, anyone can generate stamp papers required online by visiting the department’s website www.egrashry.nic.in,” said CG Rajinikanthan, Special Secretary, Finance Department.
The system has two parts, Rajinikanthan explained, “The first part makes the payment for stamp papers in the relevant receipts head whereas the second part generates e-stamp paper through E-Stamp portal after online confirmation of payment.”
The stamp vendors can also generate non-judicial stamp papers up to Rs 10,000 per person through e-stamping module.
The Special Secretary, Finance Department, said e-stamping for judicial stamp papers could take some time to start as it involves amendment to the Court Fees Act 1870.
