Zirakpur: Punjab Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary on Friday took a stock of the arrangements made at examination centres for a smooth and fair conduct of board examinations in Zirakpur. Balbir Singh Dhol, Chairman, Punjab School Education Board, accompanied the minister. The minister visited various examination centres, including AC National School at Zirakpur. She also interacted with school heads and invigilators. The minister expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and asked about the facilities provided at the examination centres. She also listened to grievances of the staff at the schools.—OC

3 acquitted in robbery case

Chandigarh: Three Panchkula residents were acquitted of robbery charges by Additional District and Sessions Judge JS Sidhu. The fourth accused was declared juvenile.According to the prosecution, complainant Bittu Kumar, a resident of Daria, told the police on August 1, 2016, at 10.30 pm four boys beat him up near Housing Board Chowk. They allegedly robbed him of his mobile, silver chain and a purse, containing some cash and an Aadhar card.  Later, all four accused were caught and the police recovered the robbed articles. — TNS
