Chandigarh, February 17
The Department of Cultural Affairs, UT, and Tagore Theatre Society organised the ticketed show of well acclaimed star-studded literary play 'Ek Mulaqat' featuring Bollywood personalities, Shekhar Suman and Deepti Naval, at Tagore Theatre here today.
The play written jointly by Sumanna Ahmed and Saif Hyder Hasan, who also designed and directed the play, was weaved around story of initially the dormant and later unrequited love of the evocative Urdu poet lyricist Sahir Ludhianavi and most-adored Punjabi poetess Amrita Pritam when both were at the zenith of their literary elegance and prominence. The emotional and intellectual turbulence of their romance unfolded through events in flashback which were marked with brilliant dialogues richer in poetic content from their ornate poetry, besides the technical virtuosity of prerecorded audio-visual screen effects, musical score and superb lighting effects. Despite much less theatrical elements both the accomplished actors kept the
receptive audience fully engrossed, with Deepti Naval absolutely lost in the character and Shekhar Suman excelling in oration and Urdu diction.—OC
