Dehradun, March 30
Governor KK Paul today directed the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari of Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) to ensure cleanliness and garbage disposal in the city.
Paul met several people and officials to resolve their issues at Secretariat here today.
Paul’s attention was also drawn towards the delay in the case of Nitesh, a resident of Chakrata, who has been missing since March 7. His family members and friends informed the Governor about his disappearance, following which Paul ordered the transfer of the case to the crime branch.
He also held a meeting with the PWD Secretary and directed him to accelerate work on three flyovers in the city, besides ensuring quality in construction work.
The District Magistrates of Dehradun and Haridwar were instructed to take action against illegal mining on riverbeds and provide daily information on the action being taken to deter offenders.
Lord Bilimoria meets Guv
Lord Karan Bilimoria, member of House of Lords in England and a Dehradun native, made a courtesy call on Governor KK Paul on Wednesday. He was accompanied by veteran journalist Raj Kanwar.
Lord Bilimoria presented Paul with a biography of his father Lt General Faridoon Bilimor. Gen Bilimoria was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command and had a long association with Dehradun during various Army postings. He was also a student of The Doon School.
The Governor presented Lord Bilimoria and Raj Kanwar with special coffee mugs with a photograph of Raj Bhavan.
Karan was the youngest Chancellor of any university in the UK when he was appointed in 2014 as the seventh Chancellor of University of Birmingham. He is the founder of Cobra Beer, and is the chairman of Cobra Beer Partnership Limited and Molson Coors Cobra India. He is also the founding chairman of the UK India Business Council, a deputy Lieutenant of Greater London and a former chancellor of Thames Valley University (now the University of West London). He is a founding member of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council.
He, along with his family, is in Dehradun to spend a few days with his mother Yasmin and younger brother Nadir.
