Former Chief Minister Chaudhary Bansi Lal was remembered on his 11th death anniversary at his native Golagarh village in the district today.
Congress Legislature Party leader Kiran Choudhry and former MLA Ranbir Singh Mahendra, daughter-in-law and son, respectively, of Bansi Lal, paid floral tributes to the leader while recalling his contribution in the growth and development of the state.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Choudhry stated that the former CM had ensured almost 90 per cent work of construction of the SYL canal during his tenure. “Had he got some more time, the canal would have been completed to usher in transformation in the south Haryana,” she said, adding that Bansi Lal was known for his honesty and commitment to values.
Mahendra, a former BCCI chairman, said he (Bansi Lal) used to have a blueprint of the development of Haryana in his mind. “He was a workaholic who had set the bar of honesty and hard work so high that it would be difficult for other political leaders to excel him in terms of delivery and commitment,” he said.
A large number of people were present on the occasion.
