Una, October 28
Former Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) DS Manhas today said the police case registered against the Indian Institute of Management Technology and Research, located in Basal village of Una district, was politically motivated.
Manhas is a trustee of the Albeit Education Trust, which manages the affairs of the institute, while his son Anil Manhas is the managing director of the institute, running BSc (nursing).
The Shimla police had conducted investigations at the institute some days back after a FIR was registered against the institute, alleging that the BSc course being run by the institute was not recognised.
Manhas said the first batch of BSc (nursing) began in 2012-13 after due approval of the Indian Nursing Council, Himachal Pradesh Nursing Council and Himachal Pradesh University.
He said the recognition certificates for the subsequent year were also obtained by the institute as per the prescribed procedures.
Manhas said in 2014, the state nursing council abruptly communicated to them, their decision to cancel the recognition and called for a re-inspection of the institute, which was also conducted.
Meanwhile, he said the Indian Nursing Council issued a routine recognition to the institute, on the basis of which the Institute participated in the admission counselling sessions for the current session.
The former Director General of Police said the police had acted in haste without verifying the facts, adding that the FIR and the police investigations were politically motivated against him and his son.
