Four days after the body of an ex-serviceman, Nirmal Singh (70), was recovered with wound injuries in the Tripuri area early in the morning, the police claimed to have solved the blind murder case.
Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested for the crime.
Shaminder Singh, SHO, Tripuri police station, said in-depth investigations revealed that the victim was a regular visitor to the house of a widow, Paramjit Kaur (46), who resides in Deep Nagar, with whom he had developed illicit relations.
The police said the victim had retired from the Army and was staying with his son in Deep Nagar locality.
Recently, Paramjit Kaur also developed illicit relations with Jagroop Singh (25), a resident of Manki village in Sangrur.
Jagroop and Paramjit Kaur connived to eliminate Nirmal Singh
when she invited the victim for drinks at her residence at 11 pm.
“Thereafter Jagroop and Paramjit Kaur attacked him with sharp weapons and killed him on the spot. They later threw his body in a vacant plot”, said Shaminder.
“A passer-by later informed the police about the incident in the morning. The victim’s body had multiple wounds and his throat had a slit mark,” said Shaminder.
