Ludhiana, July 1
The Excise and Taxation Department conducted a raid at Hardy’s World late last night at around 10:30 pm. But since “no cooperation” was made by the owners and lights were switched off, the team decided to carry on the raid in the morning. To make sure that things were not manipulated, some of the staff of the Excise and Taxation Department spent the night outside the premises.
The team raided the premises today at 7 o’clock and confiscated nine boxes of imported liquor from the premises. One of the officials said yesterday, around 20 boxes of imported liquor were seized by the police in the city and during interrogation of the accused it
was found that the boxes were brought from Hardy’s World.
The information was passed on to the Excise Department, following which a raid was conducted today. But just nine boxes of imported liquor were found. “But there were empty bottles and caps of bottles. We fear that many more boxes could be there,” said an official of the department.
