The quarterly meeting of Northern Chapter of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of Northern India was held at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital with the theme ‘Update on Ethics and Continuum of Care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology’.
Organising chairman Dr Ashima Taneja extended a warm welcome to all guest speakers and participating delegates. She said the purpose of organising the meet was to emphasise on improving healthcare for women everywhere, by setting standards for clinical practice, providing doctors with training and lifelong learning, and advocating for women’s health.
Organising secretaries Dr Suman Puri, professor of obstetrics and gynaecology and Dr Pooja Tandon, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynaecology said experts would be deliberating on latest developments in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
Under the pragmatic guidance of joint organising secretaries Dr Suni Juneja and Dr Shaweta Gupta, PG students performed a skit, depicting the importance of HIV vaccine. Dr Asmita Bhambri said as infertility was a very common problem these days in young couples, they had organised a quiz on infertility in which students from various colleges participated.
Dr Kanu Priya Jain said debate on management options in prolapse was very informative.
More than 150 delegates attended the conference. Eminent speakers from various medical colleges of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh participated in the conference. Leading Gynaecologist of Ludhiana also participated.
Topics covered during the CME include ‘controversies in the use of progesterone in first trimester’ by Dr Vanita Suri from PGI Chandigarh, while Dr Alka Sehgal from GMC, Chandigarh, spoke on the ‘induction of high-risk pregnancy’.
A panel discussion on ‘ethical dilemmas in obstetrics and gynaecology’ was the most appreciated topic among delegates There were some informative lectures regarding recent advances in gynaecology which were taken up by eminent speakers from all over Punjab.
Earlier, the meet was inaugurated by DMCH Managing Society vice-president Amrit Nagpal. Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, medical superintendent Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Anju Huria from GMCH, Chandigarh, were among others who were present at the occasion.
