While social bodies of Una district have welcomed the Baisakhi gift of a new Nangal-Amritsar-Nangal daily express train which chugged off from the Nangal station today, they have expressed resentment for leaving out Una, which is 16 km from Nangal. The train was announced in the Rail Budget speech this year to link Anandpur Sahib and Harmandir Sahib.

Members of the Una Janhit Morcha, the Beopar Mandal, the Ram Lila Committee, the Bande Mataram Yuva Sangathan and the Una Yuva Mandal submitted a memorandum to Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur through Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Jain, demanding that the train should start and terminate at Una.

Activist of the Una Ram Lila Committee Avinash Kapila rued that the Railways had adopted the step-motherly attitude towards the hill state and ignoring the claims of the people of Una was another example of this.

Somesh Sharma, president of the Himachal Pradesh Beopar Parishad, said cloth merchants from Una procured material from Amritsar and there was a great flow of pilgrimage to Dera Beas.
