Chandigarh, October 10
To unravel the mystery behind the sensational murder of a lawyer, Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, alias Sippy, the UT police questioned the daughter of a sitting Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today.
The Judge’s daughter was questioned for around three hours and she was formally made to join the investigation into the murder case today. Her name had figured in the case from the very start of investigation and it took the UT police a long time to make her join the probe.
The Judge’s daughter, however, has denied she knew Sippy for a very long time.
The Judge’s daughter, who was reportedly known to Sippy for a long time, was questioned by the members of a special investigation team (SIT). The SSP (UT), Sukhchain Singh Gill, head of the SIT, was also present during her questioning.
So far, the UT police have questioned 30 persons in the case, including a number of woman friends of the deceased.
However, the UT police remained tight-lipped about the disclosures made by the Judge’s daughter today.
“Nothing can be revealed as yet,” said the UT SSP. Police sources said the Judge’s daughter was issued summons at 8 pm last evening and she joined the probe at 11 am today. She was questioned by the police as per the standard operating procedure.
The SIT members, who were present during the questioning, included DSP (Crime) Jagbir Singh, SHO of Sector 26 Poonam Dilawari, investigating officer Inspector Amanjot Singh and ASP Gursharan Singh Sidhu.
The sources said the Judge’s daughter was questioned about her movements on the day Sippy was found murdered. She denied that she had known Sippy for a very long time.
Sippy Sidhu, grandson of former Justice SS Sidhu, was shot dead at a public park in Sector 27 on September 20. The assailants had pumped four bullets into Sippy.
The family members of Sippy have stated that he had gone to meet a girl in Chandigarh on the fateful day (September 20). Deepinder Kaur, his mother, claimed that there were differences between Sippy and his close woman friend over the issue of marriage.
The Chandigarh police have been working on three theories, including property dispute, personal rivalry and love triangle, in the murder case. They suspect the assassination of Sidhu was a contract killing.
