There shall now be no delays for the state government employees who want to make withdrawals from their general provident fund (GPF) accounts.
This was disclosed at a review meeting chaired by Governor NN Vohra here today in which Finance Secretary Navin K Choudhary briefed him about the functioning of the State Funds Department.
With the payment of Rs 125 crore today, no case of general provident fund claim is pending in any treasury of the state.
The Governor was told that Rs 2,500 crore had been paid to clear all liabilities on account of GPF, including the payout of Rs 125 crore, today.
The Governor directed the Finance Secretary to ensure that the entire process of withdrawal of GPF should shift to the electronic mode so that employees could apply and withdraw their amount online.
The Finance Secretary apprised the Governor of the steps underway to streamline the functioning of the Funds Department and other wings of the Finance Department.
While complimenting the Finance Secretary, the Governor hoped that the Finance Department would ensure against any delays or difficulties in GPF withdrawals in future.
