Vijay Bansal (42), a local financier, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a canal on Monday. The body was recovered from the canal near Thandewala village on Tuesday evening. His brother Rakesh said Vijay had lent Rs 40 lakh to someone. The borrower was not returning the money and so, Vijay was disturbed and took this extreme step, he alleged. The police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to the family after conducting a post-mortem examination. — TNS
