The Millennium City took its first step towards tech-savvy transparent policing with the registration of the first FIR under Haryana’s initiative ‘Har Samay’.
An online complaint was registered at the Sushant Lok police station under Section 68-1-14 of the Excise Act following complaint by an ASI against five for drinking publically.
‘Har Samay’ is an initiative of the Haryana Government under the Centre’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) which is a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing efficiency and effective policing at all levels, especially at the police station level. It is achieved through e-governance and creation of a nationwide networked infrastructure for the evolution of the state-of-the-art IT tracking system.
The system allows citizens to file complaints, file RTIs and property-related complaints. They will not only get to know the status of the complaint, but will also get the investigation officer’s (IO) name.
Navdeep Singh Virk, commissioner of police, Gurgaon, and the additional nodal officer of project said the system would be a major help to the police as all police stations would be connected to it.
