First-time visitors to PGI can register in advance now

CHANDIGARH: The PGI has added five more departments to its module of online preregistration facility of OPDs for firsttime visitors

The PGI has added five more departments to its module of online pre-registration facility of OPDs for first-time visitors. In all, total of 11 departments offer the facility now (out of total 37). The departments now added include internal medicine, general surgery, plastic surgery, ENT and urology.

the online registration facility is already available in ophthalmology (advanced eye centre), dermatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, drug de-addiction and training centre and oral health sciences centre.

The user-friendly system is available on the institute’s website (http://pgimer.edu.in) for the first-time visitors to the PGI. The patients can register themselves to visit the above-mentioned departments on a chosen date in the next one week. After filling in a information, a pre-registration number is sent to their registered mobile number and e-mail ID. By presenting this number at the special pre-registration counter in the above mentioned departments on the chosen day, an OPD card with a unique and permanent patient CR number will be generated within a minute. The permanent CR number will be used by the patient for all subsequent visits to these OPDs and even for the other OPDs in the hospital. If the patient does not come to the OPD on the chosen day, they will have to re-register on the web. Initially, the facility was available to limited number of patients per day.
