A large number of fish have died in a lake at the Blue Bird tourist complex in the town in the past two days reportedly due to dirty water.

Officials at the tourist complex say about 100 quintals of fish have died in the past two days. The Fisheries Department has started an inquiry in this connection.

Tourism Department officials have blamed the Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation for stopping water supply to the lake last year, and as a result the lake was drying up gradually. “Now water available in the pond is too muddy and dirty for the fish to survive. It seems that the toxic level in the stagnant water has led to the death of fish,” said a Tourism Department official.
