It's a record of sorts for cancellation of flights in a month. As many as 16 Air India flights to Pantnagar from New Delhi scheduled for January could not reach their destination due to technical snags that the plane developed, authorities at the airport said on Saturday. “The lone flight from New Delhi reached this airstrip on January 27. The remaining 16 flights were cancelled due to reasons such as technical snags and weather conditions,” said an Air India officer at the Pantnagar airport.

Rs 25 cr sanctioned for agri marketing
A flower mart at US Nagar and fruit mart in Uttarkashi, besides a banana ripening centre and organic mart, will be opened in the state as the state-level supervision committee of the National Agricultural Marketing Board has sanctioned a sum of Rs 25 crore for these marketing schemes. “These schemes, for which, money was sanctioned at a meeting held in Dehradun in presence of Joint Secretary of the National Agricultural Marketing Board, will be executed soon,” said Dhiraj Garbiyal, MD of the State Agricultural Marketing Board in Uttarakhand.

Rawat a weak CM: Katheria
Union Minister of State for Human Resources Rama Shankar Katheria has termed Harish Rawat as a weak Chief Minister. He said Harish Rawat had not been able to control the Congress or the state government. “Due to the Chief Minister's indecisiveness on priority issues such as rapid repair of infrastructure damaged by the natural disaster, the state is lagging behind. The Congress organisation is going out of control,” said Katheria, who is reportedly in the town on a personal visit.

Kashipur
7,000 power connections delinked
UPCL has disconnected over 7,000 electricity connections, including 1,500 in Kashipur town of Udham Singh Nagar, for non-payment of power bill dues in excess of Rs 20 crore. “We are continuing our campaign to recover the dues from defaulting consumers. We will go on to further recover dues from them,” said HK Gururani, Chief Engineer of UPCL in the Kumaon region.
